What “Being Alone (Khalwah)” Really Means in Islam – Clear Explanation with Reference

In Islam, khalwah (being alone with a non-mahram) is not limited to a man and a woman sitting together in a closed room.

    It also includes situations where:

    • They are together and talking privately,
    • Others may see them but cannot hear their conversation,
    • Such as in a car, an open place, on a rooftop, or similar settings.

    Key Point:
If a man and a non-mahram woman can speak freely without others hearing them, this is considered a form of khalwah.

    Why is it Prohibited?
Because such situations can lead to sinful actions (zina or related behavior).
Islam does not only forbid sin, but also blocks the paths that may lead to it.

    In Short:
Any situation where a man and a non-mahram woman interact privately is not allowed, even if the place appears public.
